Before You Start Work: Commit Your Workday to God

Apostle Paul introduces us to the principle of the heart and mouth load, and the dependability of their power supply and operations.

Romans 10:10

“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

The heart believes it; the mouth confesses it and the miracle of salvation happens.

If 100kW power is needed to run or turn a turbine of salvation. If the heart alone supplies 150kW power, there would still not be a movement. That’s what Paul says. The mouth must have input called confession.

This is why it’s not adequate to simply believe in adding to the bottom line at work. What we believe in our hearts should also shape what we say, how we think, and ultimately how we work.

As believers, our first commitment is not to an organization, a position, or a title. Our work is ultimately unto the Lord.

So, as you resume your duties each morning, take a moment to set your heart and mind before God:

Lord, today I commit my work to You.

Help me to be faithful, honest, and trustworthy.

Teach me to serve with diligence, excellence, and integrity.

Give me wisdom to support the vision and values of the workplace where You have allowed me to serve, without compromising my obedience to You.

Help me to work with respect, teamwork, humility, and accountability.

Show me how to positively impact the people around me.

Order my steps, guide my decisions, and help me leave this workplace better than I found it.

Above all, let the way I work reflect Christ.
